Treasures of the Sea

If barnacles and sea urchins were jewels, this is what an underwater shipwreck would look like. Turquoise, sapphire blue, amythyst and white jewels, beads and sequins are combined. The skirt, veil and head decoration are of silk chiffon.

I've also worn it with mesh sleeves and with beaded armbands. The harem pants underneath are blue lace decorated with silver, blue, & turquoise sequins.

Above: a close-up of the belt back.

Iridescent, sheer batwing sleeves reflect the colors of a jeweled bra draped with jingly chains and coins. The belt is decorated with hand-beaded details, unusual jewelry parts and chain tassels.

Jewel of the Nile

Yemaya asked me to help her make a costume like this one on actress Maud Adams, circa 1910.

Vintage-inspired pearl costume with pearl drapes and headpiece, red, green and purple jewels, metallic green skirt and matching veil. What you can't see: sparkling rhinestones among the pearls encrusting bra and belt.
